WhY2k?

Standard

The year 2000 was a memorable one for many reasons.

The world was unsure of many things. Would computers crash? We were just beginning to depend on computers as a way of life and the world was in a panic.

As soon as the clock struck 12 and everything went smoothly, we could focus on more important things… like FASHION!!

The late 90s to early 00s pop culture are back! Think Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

Tie Front Tops

One of the biggest trends from the 2000s making a comeback is the tie front tops.

Velour Tracksuits

Brands like Juicy Couture, Baby Phat, and celebrities like JLo, Paris Hilton, and Britney Spears made this ensemble famous.

Tiny skirts and Tiny bags

Films including Mean Girls, Legally Blonde and Clueless provide plenty of fashion inspo from that era.

It’s not a bag, it’s a baguette

Carrie Bradshaw in my mind is the epitome of y2k fashions. From Fendi to DIOR, Carrie always carried the IT bag of the season.

Bucket hats and Logos

Logos were HUGE in the 2000’s. And everyone sported a bucket hat! Denim, cotton or fur, we were so cool!

Low Rise Jeans

Those jeans need to stay in the past lol. I think very few will disagree with me.

Butterfly Clips

You could never have too many butterfly clips in your hair! Wear coordinating colors or wear a rainbow of colors. They always being a smile to anyone’s face.

Mad for Plaid

As IF!! School Girl inspired outfits have come and gone through the years. And they’re back with a bang!

Bandanas

One of the staple accessory trends of the early 2000s was the bandana.

It’s a versatile headscarf that can completely change your outfit.

TLC, Christina Aguilera and JLo really set this trend.

Why are these trends coming back around?

It appeals to a sense of nostalgia. Many people who are now in their 20s and 30s grew up in the early 2000s.

Maybe they realize their glory days have passed. Maybe being an adult isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Or maybe they realize it was

Or maybe they realize it was a fun, creative time in fashion.

Either way, dig out those ‘vintage’ outfits and Party Like It’s 1999!
